Our Story

About Blackberry & Thistle

Two people. A shared love of food. A commitment to making every occasion memorable.

How It Began

Born from a love of the table

✦ ✦ ✦

Blackberry & Thistle started in a Perth kitchen with a belief that food should do more than nourish — it should connect, comfort, and celebrate. Ruth and Martin launched the business after years of hosting for friends and family who kept saying, "You should do this professionally."

The name pays homage to Ruth's Irish heritage — blackberries grew wild around her grandmother's cottage in County Clare, and thistles (a nod to Martin's Scottish roots) framed the back lane where they'd forage for jam each summer.

Today, we bring that same spirit of warmth, care, and seasonal generosity to every event we cater across the Perth metro area.

What We Stand For

Our Values

🌱

Seasonal & Local

We work with WA growers and suppliers to use produce at its peak. Our menus change with the seasons — because the best ingredient is always the freshest one.

🤝

Genuine Hospitality

We treat every client like a guest in our own home. From your first enquiry to the last plate cleared, your experience matters as much as the food itself.

♻️

Minimal Waste

We plan carefully, source responsibly, and compost what we can. Leftover food from events is donated to local community organisations wherever possible.
